Summary
Two dictionaries, French-English and English-French, that, although heavily indebted to Cotgrave (1611), eliminates words not in actual use, that is, all "Obsolete, or New-forced Words" found in his work. These excisions find a place in Miège's dictionary of barbarous French (1679). The pruning, however, does not much affect the size of Miège's work, which has 92,000 word-entries and sub-entries.
